Tetra Tech produced an integrated Detailed Project Report (DPR) /
Environmental Assessment (EA) and conceptual through 90% plans and
specifications for the Ponca State Park Habitat Restoration Project.
The project is located adjacent to the Missouri National Recreational
River. The project restored a series of disconnected backwater and
wetland areas in newly acquired lands of Ponca State Park. Tetra Tech’s
feasibility phase work included hydrographic surveys, geotechnical
investigations, with- and without-project hydrologic and hydraulic
analyses, geomorphic and sedimentation analyses, and presentation of
design alternatives. A preferred alternative was selected based on
results of the Incremental Cost Analysis (ICA), which utilizes the
Habitat Evaluation Procedures (HEP) to evaluate with- and without-project
conditions. Tetra Tech produced 90 percent design plans and cost estimates
to accompany the design report for the preferred alternative. The project
includes environmental documentation and permitting along with public
and agency coordination. The project was constructed in 2004 and has
been providing significant off-channel habitat for juvenile fishes
of the Missouri River. The State Park is continuing native prairie
revegetation adjacent to the site.
