Projects: Detention Basins: Tucson Drainage
Under contract to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Tetra Tech prepared plans, specifications, cost estimates, structural calculations, hydrologic/hydraulic calculations, design engineer’s report, geotechnical investigations report, draft O&M manual, and information for environmental permitting for rehabilitation of an earthen dam.
Project features included raising the dam crest by approximately one foot, enlarging the auxiliary spillway, placing roller compacted concrete (RCC) revetment for the auxiliary spillway (shown in the photo to the right), constructing a pipe drop and impact structure for the outlet of the principal spillway, and providing a construction access road from New Mexico State Highway 165. The project was reviewed and approved by the NRCS and the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer – Dam Safety Bureau. Construction was completed in August 2007.
